Cheddar Valley’s Mini and Youth Rugby teams unveil stylish new kit with help from Alliance Homes

Cheddar Valley Rugby Club’s youngest athletes stepped on the pitch with newfound confidence at the Cheddar Valley RFC Minis Rugby Festival, which took place last weekend.

Their stylish new kit was made possible by a £1,500 donation from local housing association Alliance Homes, who are building much-needed new affordable homes in Cheddar.

The housing association has delivered new homes for social rent and shared ownership at Mendip View and Peregrine View, as well as their latest development of 57 homes at Steart Farm. With 28 homes available to buy through shared ownership, the part buy, part rent scheme, Steart Farm offers local people an affordable route to homeownership.

Alliance Homes Chief Executive, Louise Swain, says: “In the past few years we’ve brought vital new housing to Cheddar, but we know that creating thriving neighbourhoods isn’t just about building homes.

“Supporting initiatives like Cheddar Valley Rugby is central to our commitment to support communities to thrive. We’re pleased that we were able to play a part in making these young players’ sporting experience more enjoyable. The club is a vital part of the community and our customers have told us their children really enjoy playing for them.” 

The timely arrival of the uniforms meant the children were able to showcase them at the Cheddar Valley Rugby Club Minis Festival, a celebration of rugby for children aged under 12. The festival saw more than 1,000 children from teams across the country compete at the club’s ground.

Cheddar Valley Rugby Club’s Minis and Juniors section lead Aidan Cottee said: “This generous donation from Alliance Homes has made a big difference to our Mini and Junior teams. Not only do they look the part, in good quality kit, but it has helped them to build their team spirit and pride.”
