Andy Willis appointed as new Chair

Andrew Willis, current Chair of United Communities, has been appointed Chair of Alliance Homes Group, taking over from Simon Sweetinburgh who is standing down at the end of his six-year term.

As a corporate lawyer by background, Andrew brings with him a wealth of commercial experience and expertise. He is a highly-regarded Chair and non-executive director holding a range of roles in housing and healthcare.

Andy will continue in his role as Chair at Dorset HealthCare, University NHS Foundation Trust but will be standing down as Chair of United Communities shortly, but his understanding of our partner will help to further strengthen our home repairs partnership with them.

Louise Swain, Chief Executive at Alliance Homes, said: “This is a very welcome appointment. Andy’s knowledge and experience in social housing and healthcare will support our ambitions to improve the services we provide for our housing, support and care customers.

“The business will benefit greatly from his commercial acumen and will help us drive forward our transformation programme and plans to develop 2,000 new homes over the next ten years.”

Andy said: “It’s an honour to take over the reins from Simon Sweetinburgh. Simon has been a long-serving Chair at Alliance Homes and has seen the organisation through a period of great change.

“I’m passionate about the social purpose of housing associations and look forward to joining Alliance at this exciting time in its evolution. I look forward to working with Louise, the rest of the Board and the wider Alliance team as we seek to make housing accessible for everyone and support our customers to live in thriving communities.”

Andy will begin his role as Chair at Alliance Homes on 24 September.
