We’re committed to supporting people access employment and training opportunities in our communities.
Bridget has accessed support from us to help her reach her goals. Initially, she wanted help to improve he IT skills to update her CV, build her confidence, and apply for work following a break.
Due to a shoulder injury, she needed to reconsider a cleaning career so was supported by our team to apply for new jobs. She became increasingly frustrated at not being successful in the roles she was applying, so began to consider interim options.
Bridget was able to refresh her customer service experience by accepting a role in retail. With this experience, we were able to support Bridget to apply for a new role with a facilities management company. She was successful in her interview and now works as an Admin Assistant/Scheduler.
She said: “I feel really good about this opportunity. It’s regular hours and convenient as it’s not far away from where I live. Alliance’s employment support was there where I didn’t know where else to turn. They helped me with my CV and really lifted my spirits.”
Bridget’s confidence has really grown, and we’re pleased we were able to help her with:

About Communities that Work
Give us a Chance is leading a housing sector wide campaign, called Communities that Work.
Recent research commissioned by Give us a Chance, led by the IPPR (2018) shows that unemployment amongst social housing tenants is far higher than the national average, and far outstrips any other UK tenancy breakdown:
- Around half of all working age social housing tenants are in work. Housing Associations invest £70m a year to support more tenants to access employment
- Unemployment is twice the national average and economic inactivity is three times higher
- One in three tenancies struggle to pay their rent, and more than half of all tenancies rely on housing benefit.
